I first stumbled upon The Order Of The Good Death when I was creating the first issue of Wyrd Words & Effigies Magazine earlier on in the year, and I’ve been popping back ever since. To discover that its founder the wonderful and beautiful and funny Caitlin Doughty had published a book was extremely exciting, and I’m itching to get a copy. (Caitlin is the lady behind the Ask A Mortician videos. You can find them here.)
Her eye-opening, candid, and often hilarious story is like going on a journey with your bravest friend to the cemetery at midnight. She demystifies death, leading us behind the black curtain of her unique profession. And she answers questions you didn’t know you had: Can you catch a disease from a corpse? How many dead bodies can you fit in a Dodge van? What exactly does a flaming skull look like?” – The Order Of The Good Death.
I recommend watching this frank, funny, eye-opening promo video for the book.
P.S. Order Of The Good Death has multiple members within in its walls, and I interviewed one of them about working with the dead. The interview will appear in the first issue of Wyrd Words & Effigies Magazine.

I met Caitlin at Death Salon last October. She’s delightful. I look forward to reading her book.
Please let me know what you think of it when you’ve had the chance to read it. 🙂
