It’s been one of those days today. You know the sort. The sort that leaves your bones weary and you find yourself fantasizing about crawling into bed.
As I wind down with some decaff Yorkshire Tea (my supplier in England shipped some over) I’m savouring the soul calming art of Cornish artist Catherine Hyde.
“She is, if you will, a visual poet weaving images, symbols and archetypes into paintings that resonate in the subconscious and linger there like half remembered dreams or the dark fairy stories with which she has such affiliation” – Pip Palmer, Galleries Magazine
Thankfully, she sells her own range of over 50 greeting cards, as well as fine quality giclee prints…all of which are affordable! You can shop here.
“I am constantly attempting to convey the landscape in a state of suspension in order to gain glimpses of its interconnectedness, its history and beauty. Within my images I use the archetypical hare, stag, owl and fish as emblems of wildness, fertility and permanence: their movements and journey through the paintings act as vehicles that bind the elements and the seasons together.” – Catherine Hyde
Love these, especially the owl.
