Accidentally discovering a new band, and becoming so obsessed with the song you discovered them through that even when you’re not listening to it, it still manages to give you goosebumps, is one the greatest things there is in life.
My latest accidental find (thank you YouTube) was Belgium trio Brutus, whose blend of post-rock, hardcore punk, and black metal is powerful beyond measure. I mean, after I heard War I was physically shaking…for all the right reasons. I went on to listen to it again and again and again. For days, even when I stepped away from it, War was all I could hear in my head. No other song mattered. The performance of drummer/vocalist Stefanie Mannaert is the like of which I’ve never seen nor heard before. Give it a watch yourself and let me know your thoughts.
