When I first started researching into the dark traditions surrounding Yule, I came across a few sentences (I can’t remember where exactly…) about a Norwegian tradition that peaked my interest.
The tradition is that, on Christmas Eve, folk across the land hide their brooms so lurking witches won’t steal them for their night ride. However, when I tried to investigate further into this custom, I found very little about it.

Although I did read on a Trip Advisor forum where there was a lively discussion about the subject, that in fact brooms were left outside the house so witches could take them instead of crossing the threshold and bringing in with them evil spirits.
