These are wonderful! When I read the first of these, I thought, yes, that is how poetry is. Mortality and changes that can happen so utterly quickly become the grist of poetry (making poetry the mill, I guess). But then I saw that all the themes are right and relevant. The mountain (“the dark spruce”), the night, a “night of love,” children, and home. A making it through, “survival.” It’s impressive you can create with this form so effectively, successfully.
