Nothing could start the day better than a round, or several, of Norwegian blackened rock band Slegest. I've enjoyed everything Ese (former Vreid guitarist) has put out there with his fucking awesome project, but the track Ho Som Haustar Aleine is my all-time favourite.
I am an enormous fan of Eliwagar, the Norwegian based Pagan/Folk project of Runahild. So, unsurprisingly, I was absolutely delighted to encounter I Villmarka, a song that hasn't featured on any of her releases yet.
I can't believe I've only just come across 'spook folk' duo The Hare And The Moon. Their slow, melancholic track Reynardine made for a perfect start to the day. I've yet to check out more of their material, but I'm hoping for more deep, dark stuff.
I'm starting the new year with Swedish black metal! I've been listening to a lot of Swedish stuff recently, trying to uncover some dark gems I might have missed. Bekëth Nexëhmü, the solo project of Swartadauþuz is highly recommend if you like your black metal epic, yet still raw and crushing.
The late Norwegian musician Steingrim Torson was the man behind black metal project Selvhat. Infatuated with 'Selvhat' from the 2004 demo Den Svarte Tid. I could have this on repeat all day.
Discovered Occult, a neo-folk twosome from Sweden yesterday, and haven't been able to stop listening to them. The vocals on this song in particular are incredibly beautiful, incredibly haunting, incredibly unique. I need more music like this in my life.
