Back in 2013 I had the opportunity to see Wardruna live at the Southbank Centre in London. The entire performance left me deeply moved, but when Helvegen – one of my all time favourite Wardruna songs – was played, I teared up and started to tremble in my seat.
I was in a beautifully haunted state for days. Now, seeing Wardruna in London is nothing like being on a Viking ship in the middle of the Gudvangen Fjord listening to Einar Selvik’s solo performance of Helvegen, but I can get one step closer to that experience by watching the YouTube video of the event…and so can you.
